Message to the Family: No words can make sense of this loss; the type of loss that questions one’s faith. Together, we shared a decade raising kids and sharing in life’s ups and downs on a little street on Staten Island. There was the celebrating of the kids’ birthday parties and hoisting one another up for a keg stands at the Block Parties. The countless winter blizzards we dug out of together. How he and Jen consoled me as I faced my own father’s passing. Sometimes, it was just tossing around the football to the kids. Sometimes it was just a few minutes of chatting before walking in the door after a long day of work. What started as good neighbors quickly became great friends. But above all else, the one thing that defined Eddie was how incredibly caring and generous he treated my kids. Actions speak louder than words. His front door was always open and welcoming. There was always some extra snacks and juice boxes. The pool was always ready. Eddie and Jen treated my children as family. And, as a family, we are devastated. As for me, he always had a cold one ready. I look back and regret not taking him up on his offers more often. Ed was a kind, noble, generous, caring man. A husband who loved his wife immensely. An absolutely phenomenal father who helped define some of the most important years of Eddie, Thomas and Michael. Matty and Farrah greatly miss “Big Ed”. Dawn and I mourn our friend. Godspeed, pal.
