Condolence From: Glenn conyers
Condolence: My name is Glenn Conyers I live in Oakley California about 50 miles east of San Francisco. I met Steve in January 1976 when I arrived at his unit in Baumholder Germany. Steve had already been there for a while and I was new but he took me under his wing and showed me everything I needed to know especially how to take care of our vehicles. During duty hours Steve was the consummate professional and always lead by example. Off duty was a different story. We became great friends and got into a lot of mischief. Sorry but a lot of our stories have been sworn to secrecy, LoL. We were cold war veterans and constantly aware that the balloon could go up at anytime.Steve always had us laughing and always had a story about home. His stories of Brooklyn and his family always made us smile. He had an opportunity to make Sargent, E-5 if he reenlisted but he wanted to go home.For those of you who are read this I just wanted you to understand that Steve gave up three years of his life for his family and country. In the 40 years since we’ve served I have never forgotten about you and think about you often. It was an honor and a privilege to serve with you. From one veteran to another thank you for your service. God speed my friend, till we meet again
