Obituary for Rosaria Pipitone (Magaddino)

Rosaria Pipitone, age 94, of Brooklyn, NY passed away on September 11, 2022. Rosaria was born in Castellammare del Golfo, Sicily, Italy. In 1951 she married Antonino Pipitone and was blessed to carry a beautiful baby boy who was sent to heaven at birth followed by her loving husband shortly thereafter. The love she had for her husband and son traveled with her throughout the course of her life.

She traveled to the United States in 1966 and worked in Manhattan, NY as a seamstress while also designing clothing templates for various well-known fashion designer labels. Her passions were clothing, driving, going to New York Sports Club to exercise with a personal trainer well into her 80s, vacationing to Italy, watching Wheel of Fortune and commenting on Vanna White’s gowns, and spending time with family and her many friends. Her strong-willed personality always shone through and kept everyone else on their toes.

Whether referred to as Zia, Amore, Amina, Rosa, Rosaria, or her preferred “Zia Rosa,” she was always supportive and caring, never missing a moment to ask how everyone else was doing over her own wellbeing. She especially enjoyed making memories with and seeing photographs of her great-grand nieces and great-grand nephews.

Rosaria Pipitone is survived by her sister, Cecilia (Magaddino) Pampalone, nieces, nephews, great nieces/nephews, great-grand nieces/nephews, cousins, as well as a countless amount of friends. Rosaria is predeceased by her father, Pietro Magaddino, her mother, Giuseppa (Bongiovanni) Magaddino, her sister, Maria (Magaddino) Chiarenza, and her brother, Sebastiano Magaddino.

She will forever be in our hearts as we mourn her loss, but we know that she is at peace and “home” in heaven with her family.

The visitation will be held September 14th from 2:00-5:00 PM and 7:00-9:00 PM at Scarpaci Funeral Home (1401 86th Street, Brooklyn, NY 11228). The funeral mass will take place September 15th at 9:45 AM at St Bernadette Parish (8201 13th Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11228).
