Obituary for
Nicholas Cusanelli
Nicholas Cusanelli, beloved brother and uncle, unexpectedly passed away in his family’s
home on March 4, 2023 at the age of 60. He is survived by his brother Anthony and Anthony’s
wife Florence, nieces Gabrielle and her husband James Cardello, Maria and her fiancé Dylan
Thibault and nephew Anthony. He is predeceased by his mother and father Maria and Pierino
Cusanelli.
Nicholas was born in Brooklyn, NY, where he spent his whole life. He also spent many
weekends, holidays and summers at his brother’s home in New Jersey with his nieces and
nephew. He attended Nazareth High School and graduated in 1980. He studied at Kingsborough
College and worked for Morgan-Stanley for over 30 years.
He had a passion for horse racing, sports, music, movies and good food. Nicky was
known for knowing all the best places to eat in any town! Though he had no children of his own,
he was a devoted and loving uncle to his nieces and nephew, attending every sporting and life
event of theirs as their number one fan. He enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas, Florida, Atlantic
City, and Saratoga where he attended sporting events, concerts, horse racing and spending time
with friends. He loved hanging out with his many friends in Brooklyn, playing cards, drinking
coffee and trying all the best restaurants around. Nicky was an old school Italian family man who
was dedicated to his family and friends. He was truly a one-of-a-kind, giving, loving, funny,
great man.
The visitation will be held at Scarpaci Funeral Home in Brooklyn, NY on Thursday,
March 9 th from 2:00-5:00pm and 7:00-9:00pm. The funeral services will be held at St.
Athanasius Church in Brooklyn, NY on Friday, March 10 th at 10:30am. Burial will follow at
Resurrection Cemetery in Staten Island, NY.
